Volunteer information

Gondwana Park Zoo has a number of short and long-term volunteer positions available at any given time. Positions include:

Visitor volunteers

Visitor volunteers work with staff at Gondwana Park Zoo to provide a range of information services to the zoo’s visitors. Specialist areas include working with special needs visitors to facilitate a great experience for them at the zoo. Experience and skills in this area are desired, as well as general customer service skills as this is a public-facing role.

Keeper / food prep volunteers

Keeper and food prep volunteers assist Gondwana Park Zoo staff with the general maintenance of exhibits including food preparation and cleaning. As these duties can be quite manual and subject to changeable weather and early starts, volunteers should like outdoor work and staying active.

Education volunteers

Gondwana Park Zoo education volunteers assist with the zoo’s education program offering daily talks, plus managing aspects of the school holiday programs and general education tasks. This is a great position for people with a teaching/training background or who enjoy interacting with members of the public, especially kids.

Marketing and events volunteers

With the ever-changing range of events offered at Gondwana Park Zoo, there are always opportunities for marketing and events volunteers. Volunteers are required for single functions or events running over longer periods. This position is suited to people who love organisation and a fast pace or who are looking for experience working in marketing and events.

Youth volunteers

Gondwana Park Zoo is wholly committed to the next generation of animal lovers who want experience working at a zoo. As such, we have a range of youth positions available to high school and university students. Our youth volunteer program caters to those between the ages of 15-20 and with a passion for animal care, conservation and wildlife. Gondwana Park Zoo works closely with the Duke of Edinburgh program, Girl Guides Australia and Scouts Australia NSW to fulfil requirements of their programs.
